If your lawn isn’t looking as healthy as it used to, it may be time to call in the experts at Harris Company Landscaping!  When 20-30% of the lawn is dead or covered with weeds and crabgrass, simply adding more seed, watering more frequently, and hoping for the best, won’t solve the problem.

The condition could have been caused by the early summer heat waves, low soil fertility, insect damage, poor mowing practices or increasing shade and competition from growing trees.  If the lawn hasn’t been dethatched in the last few years, the accumulation of partially decomposed grass clippings and other material may have been blocking the benefits of regular watering and fertilization. If you haven’t aerated the lawn at least every other year, the soil compaction may be preventing grass roots from growing deep and healthy.

Before we provide a cost estimate we visit the property, examine the soil, turf, weeds and bare spots, and take soil samples for testing  by a local laboratory.  Once we understand what’s going on, we can develop a plan and reasonable cost estimate for renovating the lawn.

  • Soil Testing — A low cost way to find EXACTLY how much fertilizer, lime, or organic matter to add to your soil.
  • Weed Control – Thinning out the weeds will help the good grass to spread and thicken.
  • Thatch Removal – Remove matted grass which prevents fertilizers and water from reaching the soil surface.
  • Aeration – Reduce soil compaction by loosening up the soil to allow grass roots to spread easier.
  • Fertilization – Properly fertilize the turf with the correct amount of specialized product-forget the old 4 step stuff!
  • Over-seeding – Thicken up the lawn and remove bare spots.
